About VENTO

Vento, which means ‘wind’ in Italian, a company that was created in 1996 in Mexico to manufacture motorcycles, ATVs and scooters. It was based in the United States of America. The parts used to build its products were sourced from countries such as Italy, Taiwan and China. Initially, the company imported motorcycles and bike parts from other companies and marketed them in the US. With a rapidly increasing number of consumers, it decided to delve into manufacturing and established its first factory in 1998 near Laredo, Texas.

In addition, the company acquired new offices in San Diego, California for the purpose of providing customer supports as well as a marketing aid for their Vento bikes. The firm also managed to secure a national network of over 175 dealers spread out all over the country and over 300 Vento outlets around the world. However, Vento sales increased even outside of the borders. The records show that in 2003, Vento sold 17,840 units in the US while 77,600 bikes were sold in other countries such as Guatemala, Russia, Mexico, and Chile.

With its headquarters being in the States, Vento decided to spread its operations in other countries. It built a research and development center in Italy for the purpose of looking into new technologies and solutions to be installed on Vento bikes. Also, it set up a design team in Australia which would be responsible for coming up with new designs of motorcycles.

Vento is known for three important bikes which are the Gladiator XLS; the Rebellian and the V Thunder XL. The Vento V Thunder XL of 2005 featured an air-cooled V-Twin four-stroke engine that came with a displacement of 249cc that was able to produce 24 horsepower at 700 rm with a torque of 11.6 lb-ft at 6000 rpm.

The 2004 Vento Gladiator XLS pretty much resembles the V Thunder XL in that it comes complete with an air-cooled single-cylinder engine which is capable of producing 14 horsepower at 9000 rpm. One major difference between the two machines is that the Gladiator XL comes with a belt final drive whereas the Thunder XL features a chain final drive. There are more two-wheeled Vento machines than Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Honda combined sold in Mexico.
