Kymco, also known as Kwang Yang Motor Co, Ltd, is one of the universal superior Powersports brands which is operating since 1963. After splitting up from Honda, the KYMCO company commenced in 1964. As the founder of the company, Mr. Guang Shu Ko, worked at Honda for several years, hence, he learned all the techniques that were required to build a reliable and long-lasting auto vehicle. Soon, the company started supplying the finest quality of auto parts to Honda. In two decades, the partnership between the two companies; Honda and KYMCO, progressed so impressively that soon Honda became a major shareholder of the KYMCO company.

KYMCO's headquarters is situated in Kaohsiung, the second biggest city in Taiwan. After working endlessly for 50 years, today the company covers an area of approximately 2 million square feet (188,300 square meters). Along with huge office buildings, the area comprises manufacturing, testing, research and development facilities. Today, KYMCO has manufacturing facilities and marketing or sales organization in 107 countries; 32 in Europe, 26 in America, 29 in Asia, 16 in Africa, and 4 in Oceania.

In 1964, the dedicated engineers were able to design and launch the first motorcycle, C200. In the 1990s, the company inaugurated the Hao Mai 125, which was of great success because it was the first model that was demanded so much in the market that the company claimed to produce over 1 million units by 2008. Hence, KYMCO started to launch products under its own company name, unassisted by Honda. No doubt, the company worked independently but remain in close partnership with Honda for 28 years. In 2003, Kymco began to concentrate on promoting and improving its own brand name all over the world.
